Fantasy Film Fairy Wings

First draw a simple design on paper and duplicate with your wire.  (I use jewellery making wire) I add a tiny amount of tacky glue to the wire and place on a small piece of fantasy film.
Then lay a second piece of film on top  and use a heavy  book to flatten the whole thing . This is then what you end up with it should just be enough to hold  the wire in place while you heat the film.

Lay then whole wing flat on a heat resistant surface and heat at a downward angle on one side until you can see it shrinking then turn over and heat other side. (Be careful not to overheat)  Once completed trim the wing shape down leaving ample space around the wire. I now take a lighter a carefully go around the wing sealing the edges, you should end up with something like this.

I know you can use many tools for this next stage but I prefer to use my Dads old soldering iron! This is the fun part!  you don't need to touch the film just hold very close and you will see it slowly melting away from the iron, its just like drawing.

The finished wing, ready to attach to your fairy. This is another example of how pretty they can look just let your imagination run!
